on the bayou, James Fillmore "James Neel" Neel Williams learned
first-hand about humidity and injustice. After being chased out of
Louisiana for "talkin' queer," Neel found refuge in Connecticut. It was
cold there, in many ways. The South re-embraced Neel with prejudiced
arms, and he studied the apathetic swagger of Chippa Jonah. Rising like
a condor in the desert sun, nevermind the fact that condors don't live
in the desert, Neel ventured back to the Northeast. A decision he
